Late update, vol. 7...Warner Brothers has re-acquired the rights to make a live-action feature from the Japanese anime classic, Akira. The movie will actually be split into two films and it's first one is slated to come out in the Summer of 2009. Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, "Appian Way" will be producing. No confirmation yet if DiCaprio will star in this, however Joseph Gordon Levitt has been cast in the role of Tetsuo. The studio has been describing the film as "Blade Runner meets City of God." The film is going to be adapted from anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo's graphic novel more so than the original 1988 movie, so don't expect this to be the same movie you have already seen. I am excited and I am not even a fan of anime.
