Groundbreaking comedian George Carlin passed away yesterday in a Los Angeles hospital due to heart failure. I remember the first time I saw his stand up on HBO. Common sense tied in with foul language and smart jokes will never get old to me. From his short lived television show on Fox (remember that?) to his numerous movie roles, to his amazing books he wrote, the man was pure gold. I remember reading Brain Droppings one Summer in 2 days; I couldn't put it down. Even my parents liked him. When I "borrowed" all their old records, I found one of his comedy albums amongst the pile, it was great. Truly is a sad day in the world of comedy. The counterculture icon was 71.
